Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 19, 2007 That's my problem. I went to a Fast School. If I'd gone to a Slow School like this, I'd probably be less uptight. As for the picture, it has an odd effect, almost as if it was taken from a passing car and the sign was trying to keep up with you. Good one. Link to comment
dennisdixson 0 Posted February 19, 2007 I was out taking photos (should I say snapshots) with my fifty year old box camera yesterday. I usually take some backups like this with the digital camera. I almost raced past this sign (having nearly reached the maximum cruising speed for this neighborhood of twenty miles per hour) until I realized that it must be as old as I am (or more likely as old as you are). ;-) An interesting incongruity is that this sign is located on a dead-end street with no school in sight. Perhaps the idea of a slow school did not catch on after all. It does look as though he is running an uphill race. I can just imagine him running away screaming, "I aint goin' to de sloh skule." Unfortunately he just keeps running in circles and has come to the frightening though incorrect conclusion that there must be a slow school on every corner. This sign reminded me of those poor fellows on highway crews that are forced to stand all day holding the SLOW sign. At least their Mothers are proud of them. Perhaps they are graduates of the Slow School, where instead of a cap and gown the students graduate in knickers and knee socks. Link to comment

Todd Kowalski 2 Posted March 18, 2007 Dennis, I saw this when you posted it, and read both your and Jack's comments both of which made me chuckle. It was too late at night to really even have the energy to type something out.....it is getting that way now too! However I did take a fast cruse through your portfolio again just now, and this caught my eye once again. You do some magnificent work and have a presence of wit that is ever present. Thank you for sharing such. Regards, Todd Link to comment
trisha jean-angela 5 Posted October 4, 2010 Not only do I love this photo but the commentary as well! Thanks so much for the laugh! This sign reminds me of all the ice cream trucks which read "Slow children crossing". Perhaps all the children which were supposed to attend this slow school have found the ice cream truck! Thank you so much for sharing this photo and giving me a good laugh! :) Link to comment
dennisdixson 0 Posted November 3, 2010 I guess I should come around here more often but I don't seem to have the energy (or time) to do everything I would like to. I don't post photos over here any more because I would have to delete the ones I have already posted and I think those do a fair job of telling people something about me.It looks like Jack has purged his portfolio again. Not sure why since he is a popular fellow with lots of friends. I appreciate any interest that people give me though I'm too obsessed with my own thoughts to try and please anyone in exchange for a kind word. Perhaps that makes me some sort of snob and I'm sort of sorry for that. Link to comment
