The spoon.

Ellen, my Dutch friends showed me a lot of stuff during a project in Eindhoven in the Spring of 2001. What I never figured is that rats are held for pets... It certainly does look like an adorable pet, especially considering how smart they are.

If this is so customary - I'm not surprised it has mixed colors, since ever since humans domesticated animals, they also knowingly or unknowingly have done selection, and human selection is at least as powerful as natural one.

This photo as well as the other one has great composition. The little fella looks very intelligent and very focused making the whole scene funny and adorable.
