glenwoodsherry 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Vittorio, I think that I can safely say that there should be a third category of images, that bridge the world of Photographs and of Paintings; on the day that we can all agree on that, I think that you should hold the Master Class. I may not agree on the path taken, but I will admit that I have never seen it done better. (Oh, and I do love Venice; if I were to be told that I had but one month to live, it would be there I would go to die, for nowhere on this planet is there a place more transcendental than Venice, in the Winter, and in the early morning mists.) Here's to seeing more of your incredible work. Glenwood Link to comment

richard_lewis5 0 Posted March 20, 2007 Vittorio, this image is not just great, it is inspiring. I've admired it in your portfollio for a while and am glad to see it as a POW. This photo has shown me how far you can take a piece of art. I wonder how much of the mood in this image is actually present in the original capture and how much grew out of your beautiful post processing work. This image has inspired some of my recent work. Not that I, or anyone else should try to imitate you, we should take your ground breaking work and use it to ispire our own vision. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted April 16, 2009 Hello, and thanks for your recent comment on a page of mine... So, I went looking at your portfolio and ended up on this POW page... I'll make two comments. First would be regarding your entire body of work, which, I feel, shows a good eye for compositions and outdoor lighting. On the negative side, if I may, I'd just say that I feel your Pshop work is sometimes a bit too obvious, perhaps not subtle enough at times. Just my opinion, for what it's worth. Lots of Pshop may at times work fine, but it has, in my view, to be gentle, so as not to overpower the photographic qualities of your images. Second comment will be about this POW... I was very busy mid-february 2007, which is why I didn't comment back then. But if had been attending this discussion, I'd be very embarrassed to make a judgement anyway - simply because this picture is full of textures and color effects which are truly impossible to judge at such a small internet size. It seems that colors and overall painterly feel are quite nice, but there seem to be some jpeg artefacts as well and it's just too small to see whether the detail work was well done or not, and here, details about Pshop technique are the key: they will make the picture either shine or fail...Overall, you have some obvious talent: more accuracy and subtlety may at times be needed with Pshop, but this is something that can only be aquired through trials and errors over the years... We have all gone through the heavy photoshop stage; I've lighten the PS work on my stuff and made it a bit less visible over the years. I'm glad I did, but that doesn't mean I'm right to be glad...:-) Just my 2 cents. Cheers. Link to comment
