alight 0 Posted February 11, 2007 Hello Roger. The landscape looks nice. The exposure is a bit high on the + side. The tower and the bridge are over-exposed. That was some demanding light situation, but what could minimize the tower/bridge over-exposure could be dialing some - EV and then brightening the shadows in post-processing. In my opinion, the land is too centered vertically in the photo - there is an equal amount of water and sky. I would crop some of the water out. The brightness of the sky doesn't correspond to the brightness of the land and the patch of brighter sky lining the land stuff looks artificial, even though the contrasty clouds look OK. Also, the trees on the RH side look a little strange - did you apply lots of sharpening or some other post-processing to them? The colours are nice. Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
thatbloke 0 Posted February 12, 2007 Hello Micheal, The shot is, as in camera, on my screen the exposure seems fine, and the gamma for the screen is set right, the tower is constructed of shinny engineering bricks, so will appear bright, I also don?t consider the scene to be to centre, but that is a matter of personal opinion, I did try different crops and found this to be my personal choice. The brightness of the sky is natural as the sun was very low almost horizontal, as can be seen from the shadows of the trees. The trees are their natural colours which is unusual for the time of year the scene was shot (02/02/07) the day was cold but very bright up there in the hills and I felt very fortunate to be there.
