Very effective digital alteration I like for a number of reasons.

 

The image is well-balanced and the motif ( the spooky Mr Grim Reaper with his notorious scythe ) is well-sharpened compositionally and placed near the secondary point of interest ( the chains ) to produce gravity and a fair amount of eye optical movement induced to alternate between two focal points. The interconnection of visual elements ( the chains leading to the G.R ) have created unity visually. The colors are creepily hot and imply unbearable heat. The color ( analogous color scheme ) is so harmonious to be perceived as being energetic ( in this case, more ' blood-chilling). The chains provide similarity of elements perceived as a whole to lead down all the visual importance to the G.R.
