petewelsh 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Yet another great picture from you Mary, I only wish I could get the sharpness in the feathers as you do.. I am not sure if its my lens or me ... probably me ... Well Done ~Peter~ Link to comment
samcisa 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Extremely beautiful light. And again, the bokeh is so unique. I know, you are waiting for more colors, but I think that this kind of background allows the main object's colors and detail to shine. Frame is adequate, and if I wanted to physically frame it, I would choose something like this. Font is nice, but it is for my taste a little too much on it's own. Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks all, Samir, I looked and looked for a thinner script in Elements and couldn't find one. Perhaps when I move to CS2 I'll have more choices. You always seem to catch some of my own concerns. I worry about the frames as I don't want them to overpower the photograph, or become the center of attention. I'm liking some of the very thin ones that just give the edges a finished look and may try some of those too. Peter, I get plenty that aren't focused, I have a computer full of them. These are really close shots, I try to move in when they are distracted. I don't recall the distance on this, but probably no more than 12-15 feet with the 400mm lens. Oh, and move very very slowly. rafikrkamel 1 Posted February 10, 2007 nie capture mary, the details are very nice and the composition works very well to me. the only thing i would comment on are the shadows on the back of the bird, otherwise very welldone, RK! Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks Inger and Rafik. Rafik, the light is "au Naturele", filtered sunlight through branches and I kind of liked it on this shot. My thought being if you took a walk in the woods and spotted one of these guys, you likely would have light filtering through the trees given their natural habitat. I have several in direct sunlight, they're nice too, just thought this was pleasantly different. But thanks, always pleased to get your thoughts as you know. Link to comment
