Hi Jukka.

What I see in this shot is the domination of some visual elements such as lines, color, pattern and direction and orientation.

First of all, The converging lines starting from the bottom edge and proceeding deep in to the frame have provided a very clear engaging entry point in to the frame for the continuation and transfer of the unflinching visual importance. The lines are arranged in converging linear perspective which is a very visually appealing perspective since the convergence is always regarded as unity (Gestalt

principle ). The pattern on the snow has variation resulting in rhythm that induce movement and transferrance of visual importance from one point to the other. Were the snow smooth, there wouldn't be such a powerful effective movement. What is interesting is how the path bends around the trees. that is where the optical movement bumps into the trees ( technically called 'stop'). the stopping point prevents eyes from being led out of the frame, so the next point which the visual importance is directed to is the brightest point in the frame- the setting or rising sun. The combination of clear direction and phenomenal orientation of visual flow has worked toward the triumph.

Color plays a very prominent role in this shot. The presence of primary hues can always make a visually formidable frame. The primary hue here is yellow. color continuity marked by the reflection of the sun rays on the snow stretching to the foot of the frame is great causing coherence of color cast. The trees are brown and low in tonality, so there is no interruption in drawing forth the viewer's engagement and pleasure from viewing such a vivacity. The sun is a bit too saturated. This has made it look a little artificial since the trees are low in saturation and intensity.

you have pulled off a nice job in coping with a contra light situation where others have busted their chance by overexposing or underexposing parts of the frame. neither has happened here, so I should say 'BRAVO'

The frame's balance is striking with a precise proportion of high contrast to the low contrast regions in the shot ( balance through contrast). this shot boasts good depth and acceptable contrast with a wide tonality range which is settling.

to make a long story short, this is an extremely successful painting ( sorry, photograph !!! )
