Now cyrus, some of us do know the tricks of the trade and you've gone too far with this one. Come on now, bathing and combing out a dead bee ~ what will be next?

Exquisite photo cyrus, regardless! You ROCK! (just kidding about the dead bee thing, maybe). Best Regards, Dave

I don't understand why the rating system is still listing an average in the 5's when it is obvious the average of anonmynous raters is well above that. Bizzare. It's like the software did not update after the first folks rated it. I can't believe that everyone since then rated were "new" people.

Maybe its related to the software updates. It's a shame 'cause this is an excepitonally good image. Let's hope the new software recalculates everything so that the rating is the correct one.

Thank you My friends for the uplifting comments.

Yes, this "great shot" turned out to have a place on the 15th page of the "TRP", what a PITTY JOKE and I hope the adminstrators, someday, catch some of the cheaters and manipulators! If you are not a mate rater, coordiante with friends or have multiple accounts to rate yourself, that's where you'll end up. And YES, find me a shot with this magnification and level of detail on this site or elsewhere and I take my words back with apologies.

Best regards to all who took the time.

Yes, it has hair in every facet of it's eyes and I didn't know this untill I got close to it.

Thank you for the comment, Regards.

I really don't care about rating for the sake of getting 7s, how often do you see me putting up photos for rating? But, if you want your work to be shared by the bigger community, unfortunately, that's the only way. I put up a photo for critique only the other day and it did not get even one comment! People are mostely interested in rating and too many people are abusing the system. There is NO REASON why this photo should be on the 15Th page of the list of "top rated" photos and 171th in rank, for the day, mine or somebody else's.

Cheers.

I swear, it was alive at first but died in the laundry! Yes, I put him in the laundry, that's why he is so clean and fluffy!!!

Thanks man for the comment.

Kind regards my friend.

In photographic terms, this is the best shot I have seen in a lot of days. Unfortunately cannot rate it more than 7/7. In my opinion there should be another category for technical excellence since taking good pictures is as much an art as engineering/science. Surely this should be rated highly just for the getting a sharp image of a live bug with extension tubes and such. And then you have got the colors and the details and great DoF.

About the rating system, yes its flawed, but I sometimes do not have time to look at photos and return at the end of the day to look at some of the Top photos in TRP. So it does have its uses. Sadly people are really misusing the system. I have seen these waterfalls getting bad ratings only to be deleted and resumitted minutes after to get the high 6's with all friends around this time.

Wilson,

Welcome back my friend. You certainly know what I'm talking about, collecting all 3s and 4s on your photos, specially your sport shots, the like of which one can't even see in Sports Illustrated!
.
Dear Budhadytia,
I thank you for the visit and the heat warming comment. Unfortunately, like I said earlier, putting up a photo for rating seems to be the only way to share it with the bigger audience. I could have left this photo on my portfoilio and share it with my few good friends who visit me but I decided not to. I thank you again for the comments.
.
Kai,
Thank you my friend for the kind comment..
Mary,
I will have to get back to you a little later, thank you for the visit again.
.
Christopher,
It is a pleasure to get a visit from you.
.
Tommy and Alin,
Thank you for the support.
Kind regards to all.

Man, there is something majorally wrong with the algorithm that calculates averages. Today it is still reporting only 11 (same as the last 3 days) anomynous ratings but now they average 6's instead of mid 5's. There are obviously many more than 11 ratings. Bizzare. Ok more bizzare..this exceptional shot made it to TRP. Appears on the first page with a totally different average then the one at the bottom of the page. I think the software has the hiccups or it has discovered fuzzy logic :-)

Seems to me that all anonymous ratings are not counted in top photos default setting (Rate recent avg.) They must be rated in rate recent - forum. If I remember correct, default was earlier Average(in top photos). You can still select that scene (among with multiple other choices), and then do the research. And there it is... ...just between Heys and Gulers photos in second place. Average- choice in TRP counts every rating in.

I guess this sites politics was earlier more friendly for ratings with names, but because of mate- ratings and revenge- ratings, politics changed toward anonymous- friendly ratings. Life is full of compromises and I guess constructors of this site are struggling in between. After all they try to please as many customers as possible (not me, I am not paying guest, at least yet)

I am not trying to defence anything here or politics of this site. I am demilitared. Just some notes I have made when crawling this site. And again this photograph IS great and I guess I have a vision of hard work it needed (half of millimetre to left and you were photographing its butt ;D)

Take care,a s l a

They do my friend unless they are from the very new members. In this case there were 3s and 4s which were removed(I noticed a while ago)by someone, most probably because they were given through bogus accounts and credit should be given to them.

"You can still select that scene (among with multiple other choices), and then do the research. And there it is... ...just between Heys and Gulers photos in second place. Average- choice in TRP counts every rating in. "

Yes, you could but that is a few clicks away and mosst people look at the trp for action. Besides, the fact is that image never saw the time of day anywhere near the TRP. as a matter of fact, it was number 171!!! and I just checked and it was number 79!

DON'T GET ME WRONG, this site is still, simply THE BEST there is out there and I do agree that one cannot please everybody but there are a few things that could bone which would make a huge improvement rather than simply ignoring the fact and name calling everyone who complains.

Thank you for stopping by and the fine comment my friend.

Best regards.

Okay, I usually check top photos with default setting, too. And I also have noticed some members have bogus accounts (or second accounts). I guess its only possible explanation if member had commented some 150 times, comments were for one individual only? Or is is only unusually tight relationship? :).

Take care (again), a s l a

Please, no need to respond back.

Some of what I like best and what makes this a 7/7, beyond the difficulty of the shot is ~ the fact that you've reduced the contrast before adding saturation so it doesn't punch you in the nose. And, you didn't sharpen the heck out of the photo!

Did you place the TC on the camera side or lens side of the extension tubes? (just kidding). It's amazing with all the hardware setup and at f/27 that you only used and ISO of 800. As always, great job controling the noise!
