Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 4, 2007 These two tree shots seem to be experiments in tone and are quite interesting. I think there is room in this vein for further exploration. Link to comment
lars_brorson_fich 0 Posted February 4, 2007 You are quit right, I hope, Jack. I have just got my first fixed focal lenght lens, a 50 mm f/1.8, and just walked through a wood nearby, to try it out. Funny, but nice feeling to be without the zoom - and god it is sharp, wich in my opinion is needed fore this type of pictures ! Unfortunatly i didnt bring a tripod with me, so it is handheld - you can actually see it if you watch closely. I got to try it out with the tripod next time the light is right ! I think, as you say, there is room fore futher development here. Re. Lars Link to comment

lars_brorson_fich 0 Posted February 4, 2007 Hi Kent. No, mine is a Nikon, but i dont participate in the "religious war" about this matter, but I must say that this lense realy has shown me what the D200 can do. I am also looking foreward to try it out on the "abstract street style". I mean, Lee Friedlander and the other heros also used fixed focal lenght lenses. Re. Lars Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 4, 2007 Hi Lars, I also recently acquired the 50mm f/1.8 for my D80 and, like you, am impressed by its sharpness and enjoy what it's like not using a zoom. An amazing bargain, this lens. Terrific picture, by the way. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted February 4, 2007 Thanks Lars. I have no strong opinion on the nikon/canon wars. Its all good to me. I'm just happy to have a camera. Thats interesting you mention Lee Friedlander. I was just visiting his work yesterday. Well that's it then. I guess I need to get one. Got to try and keep you up with you and Matthias. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Lars, my turn to be the standing ovation guy today. A beautiful composition, the tones and light are great. About lenses, one of my very favourite is the Nikon 50m f1,4 AIS. It gives very good results. Link to comment
cdaunis 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Any good 50mm will give you the opportunity to take a great picture. What you've achieved here is the realization of the possibility. Link to comment
