ken_bufton 0 Posted April 20, 2002 There are a lot of interesting patterns occuring in this photograph. The shapes left by the surging sea on the beach are quite fascinating and the people add a sense of scale. The only thing that lets this image down are the flat and muddy tones. It needs some contrast to give it some punch. A well seen image with an eye for patterns. Great stuff. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 20, 2002 I hardly ever see a beach scene in black and white, and most them were rarely good, however, you've done a good job here! I want to know how you got your perspective... where did you take the shot from? There are some good contrasts in this with some good blacks and almost whites, although I have to agree with Ken in saying that it needs a little extra contrast, if only to get the whites properly white (or alternatively, exposure the print for less to lighten the image, and possibly burn in any too-light areas... aaaa darkrooms, you gotta love em) Link to comment
naki 0 Posted April 21, 2002 Thanks for comments... Regarding contrast... well, the origianl print is 16X20 in Ilford Gallery FB and much better-what you expect- than this scanned image... I'm sorry you missed original print Link to comment
