mary fran 0 Posted January 30, 2007 Caught him in sunlight filtering through the branches, no PS saturation adjustment. Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted January 30, 2007 It really does look chilly! He's all fluffed up trying to stay warm - good capture! Link to comment
Dieter Schaefer 20,314 Posted January 30, 2007 January Blues - that's what I currently have. Beautiful capture, Mary Fran. Regards, Dieter Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted January 30, 2007 Thanks Jan and Deiter, Jan , bitter cold here. They all look fat these days from fluffing to stay warm. Deiter, I think we all have the January blues, I'm refusing to delete even my worst flower shots off my hard drive because they at least have some color. Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted January 30, 2007 Your brightly colored birds sure make the image look so nice. Great focus and super background. Excellent work. January-March are the hot months for birding out here. No time to slow down for the blues. I've still got 100 shots from Sunday I haven't even looked at yet! Gotta retire someday so I can work harder at this. Link to comment
bgeg 0 Posted January 30, 2007 Very Nice! Regards, B. (ps glad you got the whole bird) Link to comment
armpro 0 Posted January 31, 2007 Excellent capture. Your Jays seem to look different from mine. I guess it's the cold in New England. Mine fluff mostly after rain, and I don't think I'll ever capture one in flight. My 500 mm. lens is too slow and they are too fast! :) Link to comment
samcisa 0 Posted January 31, 2007 It's amazing how many excellent bird images you bring here. Living in Florida for a long time, I can not imagine how hard it is to take photographs (especially with telephoto :D) in so cold weather. Seems like IS is must there. Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted January 31, 2007 Thanks Tommy and Samir, Tommy, in flight is a bear, I keep trying but need a bright sunny day and still don't get them in the frame. Jody Melanson and Robert Kane posted some good ones a while back, but they're rare shots. Samir, the trick is to throw fashion to the wind! We dress for warmth only...I've got some outfits that the folks back in Maryland who knew me would roll over laughing at me in--but I still have my nose and digits! Seriously though, it limits the amount of time you can stand around out there and you can be sure just when you're frozen and wanting to quit someone will show up and taunt you with some posing. Thanks much for your comment. My recent shots were all in beautifully supplied sunlight, still can't adequately adjust camera settings but now know how much light I need to get a sharp one in auto mode. Link to comment

mary fran 0 Posted February 18, 2007 Thank you Carole, Andrew and John, sincerely appreciated. I struggled for two months to get close to one of these alarmists, had some not so pleasant names for them! :) Link to comment
