Heber Valley railroad

A quick trip across the tracks to capture this one. Cropping

suggestions?

I would probably choose to crop the foreground just below the snow line. The paving and highway add little to the image of a historic train.

First off, lovely shot - very picturesque, very much telling of the mystique these more-than-mere-machines hold for so many.

As far as cropping suggestions, I would have to agree with the above suggestion - crop it to an 8x10 aspec, putting the right (viewer's right) rail running right into the corner of the image. That will also balance the image a bit by placing the locmotive more at a thirds intersection (I know - I HATE those hard and fast "rules" of composition and have little time for the people who seem unable to see past them... but sometimes they do work as advertised!).

 

Anyhow, just a suggestion:)

i'd like to see it showing more of the right side of the train, moving to the photog's right and obscuring that red hut thingy. Either way, great shot.

Is this better?

photoshop out the rest of the hut. While in some ways i liked that crop better, it felt a little too compact i think.
