Please give feedback on this portrait. It's one of my first portraits

of a baby/toddler. These friends want to refer me to others...will my

work sell?

Chris, yes i think your work would sell if it's all as good as this. What Mother/Father could say no to this. I know i have sold many similar shots. And after they buy this they will ask do you have any more like this but not the same shot as grandma wants one. The only thing i don't like about the shot is that there is no seperation between the childs hair and the background.

This does have commercial appeal so, as James said above, if they are of this quality I don't see any reason why you couldn't earn some dosh. James' comment about the head blending in with the bacground is a valid point so that is something to be watched. The main appeal with this photo is that it isn't your normal 'run of the mill' baby photo. Using props and capturing some of the subjects' personality is a sure fire winner. There is a woman photographer here in New Zealand whom has put babies in various props and guises and she's made a fortune (Anne Geddes) Her stuff is definately not my cup of tea but parents find it irresistable. I'm not a parent so maybe that's why I don't like her stuff. Anyway This is a neat pic so well done and good luck!

Cute kid and a creative pose. Contrast is too powerful. The head is lost in the background and the whites are washed out (no detail). I would like to see the light skin tones of the face closer to that is shown in the arm and hand.
