This image made me wandering about why would you have it made and posted. Is it a colors, a mining of the word or some kind transsendetial projection? Rust leaks?.. Hope to have an ansver. Ilia.

Ilia, I have posted many pictures here before and nobody ever asked me to explain why I posted a photo. I am not sure whether it really helps to answer this question. I select photos because I like them and feel they are worth seeing. I don't always know exactly why I like them myself, just like you may not always know why you like/dislike a photo.

But let's try anyway: This was not a play of words (not based on the translation of Mir: World or Peace - I didn't even know). I like the colors. When I took the picture, the rust intrigued me. And for me, the picture seems to tell quite a bit about the ship and its crew: someone took the effort to choose suitable colors, the paintwork is fresh but imprecise (ships are big). If you look carefully, someone made each letter by hand as multiple pieces - probably in a traditional machine shop. They are screwed to the ship - you can see the screws. Even though the paintwork is fresh, the sea and weather have already left their marks.

So, in short, this photo summarizes such ships to me. Hope this helps, Peter.

Dear Peter. Thank you for the good answer. The image have caught my attention in many ways and ther was no sense of disaproval at all. I sow a few dimentions in it and was interested to hear your comments. I find it extrimaly simple and a kind of childlike direct in composition. The one I myself is most interested in and also trying to cultivete. I also interested in literal communication between likeminded photographers as IMO it is important instrument of personal development. There ware as well the other considerations of rather fine scientific nature. It seems to me that sertain subjects do atract attention of not formaly connected photographers during of some period of time as if there is some kind of synchronisity operats in us. Perhaps I dig to deep and there is nothing in it but I am interested and would like to hear your comments if you have any. Thanks. Ilia.

Very much enjoyed the picture and also the dialogue between you and Ilia. Your explanation, Peter, was simplicity itself and most refreshingly free of jargon.

I discovered your portfolio after reading the remarks you left on Daily's picture, the one with the girl at a 45 degree angle , lit by a shaft of light. Really got a kick out of that. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll take a stroll through your galleries. Regards, Jack

The simpliness of the picture already drew my attention, I like it (can not analyze why ;-) Looking at it a few more moments gave me another perspective on words and more philosophical dimensions. Rust in peace! Good shot, Sakke
