tylerwind 0 Posted January 25, 2007 Marco Ruggiero , January 25, 2007; 09:09 A.M. Great composition and I like the way that you have captured the light peeking through with the silhouette of the lighthouse. Good B & W rendition. Compliments. Link to comment

pjmeade 12 Posted January 25, 2007 Hello Tyler. Nice to see some BW. I like the overall composition and balance, but I think you could have pushed the contrast a little further and had a little more sea in it. But that's nit-picking. How are your high dynamic range experiments going? Pete Peter Link to comment
tylerwind 0 Posted January 25, 2007 Thank you for the comments! I appreciate them! This photo is actually from about 6 months ago...I just for some reason never noticed it! Peter--I think you are right, I could have improved this a bit with some post-processing turning the contrast up. I actually meant to do that but then just posted it in a hurry and didn't think about it. I'll play around with it and see what it looks like--I'm quite certain there will be some level of increase in appearance, although I can't say how much until I play with the file. I honestly haven't done much with the HDR yet, but I have about 1000 files that I could use it on. Hopefully I can get that going soon. I have a trial version of Photomatix but I can't say I've figured out how to make it work (at least not well...when I combine images they look terrible!) I'll keep working on it! Link to comment
aslavihervuori 0 Posted January 25, 2007 Good play of lights and shadows. No unnecessary components in this image. I agree with Peter about adding contrast. Other option would be local dodging and burning. Whatever you do to add contrast, imo you should not touch so much to clouds; there is great sense of depth there like this... I like this. kctwain 0 Posted January 26, 2007 Wonderfully captured scene, Tyler. The cloud formation with the fortuitous opening for the sun beautifully frame the lighthouse. Great timing on the beam coming from the lighthouse...or was it the sun's rays shining through? This photo works presents very nicely in B&W. Very well done. Link to comment
