arash khoshghadam 0 Posted January 25, 2007 Hi Brenda This is a very sweet image. The symmetry is very nice. The only minor setback is the white balance; The skin tone is a little warmer than normal. was this shot taken with the auto white balance? I have corrected the white balance in my version. check it out. Link to comment
meme1 0 Posted January 25, 2007 Arash, thanks for the tip. Your version does look better. How do I correct? Link to comment
arash khoshghadam 0 Posted January 26, 2007 Hi Brenda Thanks for caring to answer. The Nikon AWB has the same shortcoming as my camera-Canon 20D. They produce warm skin tones and if the light source is warm, they are unable to neutralize the low Kelvin, so in orthe to be on the safe side, always open your image in PS and open the IMAGE menu/ Adjustment/ photo filter. Traditionally in analogue days, photographers used to screw in a warming or cooling filter in front of their lense to boost the warmth or coldness of the tones to achieve a particualr visual effect. PS has simulated the same devices in PHOTO FILTER option. If your camera has produced too much warmness, apply cooling filter (80) that delivers the best correction. Play with the density slider and carefully watch the white areas. move the slider till you sense that the white areas are beginning to turn blue. It is a fool-proof device for this kind of corrections. if on the other hand, the skin tone is blue, suh as when the white balance fails to compensate for high Kelvin in fluroscent lamp lights , add warming filter (85) to normalize white balance and skin tones. arash khoshghadam 0 Posted January 26, 2007 Way to go, Brenda. You have got it. There is yet another method called selective color correction but the one I mentioned here is the simplest and safest one. cheers. Link to comment
