jason j 1 Posted January 24, 2007 Walked into a bar to meet an old teacher and saw a former student, so I took her picture. I like how the slightly out of focus bottles frame her, but feel that I still failed to capture her true beauty. Advice welcome. Link to comment
vallery 0 Posted January 24, 2007 I was going to suggest using a 50mm/ 1.8 lens but I see you did! My suggestion is to move in much closer and create a more shallow DOF. The bottles would blur enough to know what they are without being as sharp as the subject and a bit darker as well allowing her face to "popout" more. Although, this a good shot. That's just my take on your request for a critique! regards, vallery Link to comment
vallery 0 Posted January 24, 2007 Also you could have her facing the bottles more to capture the sparkle that would be reflection from the bottles. With this straight on shot her eyes lack that nice sparkle. Vallery Link to comment
paf iii 3 Posted January 24, 2007 Hello Jason, heres my 2 cents for what is worth, I like the exposure it lends itself to the bar Atmosphere. Since this is a Environmental Portrait, I would have framed it from a slight side angle with her looking back toward the camera. Also possibly filling a drink etc., to incorporate her job at the bar, capturing her while at work. Hope this helps Phil Link to comment
jason j 1 Posted January 24, 2007 If I get another chance, I'll ask her to turn sideways and maybe turn the camera. Thanks again for the comments, I will return the favor as soon as possible. Link to comment
