Dracula is out looking for a job; the old castle is here for good.

You know that B&W is not my way but I felt it works with this image;

your opinions?

I am not working in B&W, so I really need your opinions my friends; I have to decide if I continue or go back to my beloved colors! Thank you, Catalin

For me, b/w works better than colors, it's more mystery than colors (excuse my english); good title; perhaps the sky is too white for a mystery image, and the trees aren't enough black; 5-6, ok? (the larger image is too larger, the smaller image is a little smaller for a best view, in my opinion) Don't you use a red filter for b/w? I like b/w with red filter. Cheers, Nadia

Thanks for the 5/6

I have choused the large format for the details only; the small format in PN's choice, not mine. The sky does not come on order; I'll talk to God next time just to please you and NO I do not use a red filter on a digital camera, I can certainly simulate it but I do not feel like! Sorry that the trees are not black enough for you. Dear All, I have lots of fun here and I am waiting for your opinions. Best regards, Catalin

Wow, the larger version is well worth the minute to upload, excellent detail and yes Dracula would surely hover here. Once again excellent choice of perspective. Would love a peek at it in color too, but the B/W is "it" for enhancing its Gothic mood. (Good to work in B/W but we'd feel "deprived" if we weren't to see more of your color landscapes:)

Monumental, I love how nature is not separated from the glory of human might here, they grow to the sky together. I wish they would allow higher marks than 7/7, htis is an award wining image. Full of power and the echoes of history which you make feel deep to the bone, is a place like that still in earth? I am glad your vision preserved and brought them to us. My admiration for a most amazing and memorable work of art, one that will linger in my dreams . I have seen images of Bran before, but never brought with all their spirit and majesty like this.

A very interesting place and I like the angle/composition you have chosen, as B&W it certainly adds to the mystique of the photo, Great work!

Best to you, Tom

I love a good black and white and I believe you have done a really good job with this.The whole mood of this picture is kind of spooky and mysterious. I agree with your comment about the larger version. You need that to really apprieciate the detail. Beautiful Photo, Catalin.

oh, good! I was house shopping anyway! too bad it's a little far from where I live ;-) I like the perspective here, that, together with the trees, creates this eerie atmosphere. It would probably have been even more scary if the sky had been darker or clouded, but nothing you can do about that. I also think that b/w is the right choice for the atmosphere. And definitely better when viewed larger, baceuse one can appreciate the details, where the building sort of "becomes" rock... btw, thanks a lot for your comment!

The angle very well shows the perspective a commoner would have of the castle. Elevated and majestic. As always thanks for the comments on my pictures. I can always count on you for some feedback.

as others have commented I think this looks great in B&W, but I would like to see the colour version as it might look even better!!!!!.

Very nice capture. If I may critique it, the main problem is the white sky that makes difficult to achieve a good rendering of the grey tones (a bit too dark the trees and the earth). This is just how the scenes looks, not a photographic mistake. In black & white a dark sky is always impressive and lets you play more with greys in the foreground (jus my humble opinion). cheers

It was early in the morning, -7 Celsius and the Sun was rising behind the castle; the sky was white/blue my friend and I am not God for sure. Regards, Catalin
