I think the magnification/cropping on this one is perfect for this particular viewing format (computer screen). A big print might zoom out a bit.

This is very nice work Carl. I think what Jamie was saying is that the size of the print affects the way we view the composition. On my computer screen this is essentially a 5x7 inch "print." If you printed this on paper at 13x19 you could show more of the building at the same level of detail or show the same view with much greater detail than we can see here.

I suppose a limiting factor in enlargements is how much detail can actually be resolved by the media. I would love to see the printed version of this photograph. Kent sent me one of his prints around the first of the year and as good as it was seeing his photograph on screen, seeing the actual print is ten times better.

Dennis saw what I was getting at. Images need to be bold and obvious to succeed on Photo.net, but more subtle work can be rewarding when printed out larger and judged in a less informal context.

I think Truckers #5 is a candidate for printing large for just the reasons you've mentioned. Resolution may be less of a problem in these shots because they're such amorphous shapes and you don't expect them to have really crisp edges. I've uploaded another in the series, along with a closeup that shows a worker that I hadn't noticed, even after several brief sessions of processing my favorites.

I like this the best of the truckers series. The colors work well, the composition is simpler, and the red "line" is strong against the not-quite-so-horizontal black lines. Great series.

Speaking of books, Carl, have you gone that route yet? I actually do have one (1) copy of a book that was produced for me by one of my students. The initial process was a bit costly but the finished product was quite impressive. You certainly have more than enough high quality material in your reflection series to make a beautiful book. I actually prefer seeing pictures in books rather than hanging on gallery walls.
