peter_smith14 0 Posted April 16, 2002 this shot seems to cry for a greater DOF, just to get the other (penguin?) into focus. these guys have the most amazing eyes. what are they? Link to comment
rick vincent 1 Posted April 16, 2002 I wish the one on the right was sharper, otherwise a good capture. The moment is there. Link to comment
robert goldstein 0 Posted April 16, 2002 The lighting is a bit flat, but otherwise, this is a great image. Link to comment

stanton imaging 0 Posted April 18, 2002 what a fantastic photo you have caught a tender moment its just great i dont care about the soft one Link to comment
arthur sevestre 0 Posted April 20, 2002 Very nice and even original shot of a couple of puffins (yes, they are puffins ;-)). The colours could be much more vivid though. If you have photoshop or a similar program, please try playing with levels and selective colours and add some contrast and saturation. For an example, see the example (quick work, so can be better still). Link to comment
kharlamov 0 Posted April 24, 2002 Are these actualy reel they look great but i keep on looking at the top one because it is more sharper. Link to comment
valerie 0 Posted April 26, 2002 Beautiful Atlantic Puffins in breeding colors! Wonderful closeup pose showing interaction. I agree, it would have been nice if the other puffin weren't so soft; I suspect it could have been due to movement (obviously a low-light overcast day) as well as depth of field. I've considered going to Machias myself to photograph; could you tell us more about your experience (time of year, conditions, etc.)? Thanks for sharing this. Also, I applaud the person above who deepened the colors; both options are good images, but you do expect to see the deeper colors, and I suspect that the day was a bit foggy and kept the colors from being as sharp as they could be.
