aeaster 0 Posted January 19, 2007 Some might tell you that the burned-out sun is an offensive element in this photo. Do not listen to those fools. This one photograph is an example of when breaking the acceptable rules of photography creates the better image. The mass of almost-pure white puts a rare but powerful addition of shining brilliance to the entire composition. My very highest regards. Link to comment
k5083 1 Posted January 19, 2007 Having considered Andre's comment very carefully, I'm still going to line up with the fools as regards the burned out sun. I will say that the rest of the image is so arresting and beautiful that it easily overcomes this flaw. Link to comment
pascalagneray 0 Posted January 22, 2007 This is the first picture I save on my hard drive from another photographer at photo.net since over 2 months. I find the texture of the water just perfect and delightful to behold. Burnt out sun is a perfectly acceptable technique famous photographer have used shamelessly in the past. It creates a powerful focus and works great in your shot. The boat is unusual and looks a bit worn out which gives character. The only thing that could have been better (but it's hardly controlable) is for the boat in the background to be further to the left so as to balance the composition a bit better. It's a detail. Great shot. I will see it again and again (with pleasure). Thanks Link to comment
