My neighbors have a 'green thumb' and I was invited over to do justice to some of their flowers this summer. I managed to find an angle that would create a colorful background. They liked the result and I hope you do also.

I tried to choose an angle that would create a colorful background

that hopefully adds visual value to the main subject.

Hope you like it!

Your neighbours must be very pleased! This is very beautiful! (actually if you could get your neighbours to come by and do my garden this spring I'ld appreciate it!)That background looks as lovely as this flower!

I agree, the background is fantastic! I love the color pallette that emerged. It feels like you have a great Monet painting in the background with a super-sharp subject. Very nice.

Tony, I really like what you did here. I am impressed with your liquid gallery, but this was achieved with just light, focus and aperture. The arrangement of colors in the BG complements the subject amazingly well. The white areas just below the flower (lower left) might be masked out (or not). Cheers.

Kurt: You do have a point re the white area below the flower. I will see if my limited PS skills can work on that. To all of the others who have stopped by to view, comment and rate, a hearty thank you.

Tony,

The colours and composition are fantastic. My eye travels between the background, the stem and the area under the flower. You can almost smell it. Also reminds me of the Spanish Dancer (saltwater fish). Great work!

It is amazing that when one revisits something taken and processed over three years ago that there are things I would do differently today. The dark mauve at the bottom right is a little too rich for my current tastes and when I get a chance I will modify that area.
