sean_r2 0 Posted January 11, 2007 I like this image a lot, as I'm sure a lot of dog owners will. Very nice capture of emotion on the part of both dog and man. However, I am distracted by the white spots all over the place. I thought at first they might be dust kicked up during the action of the two, but on closer look they seem like unintended specks. Removing those distracting spots would make this image much stronger. Link to comment
tiffanydawn 0 Posted January 11, 2007 The specks are water drops but I agree they are distracting since you can't see what they are. Thanks for the comments Have a Blessed Day! Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted January 11, 2007 I remember commenting on the saliva drops on your last image - this is another fantastic one! Really scary though! Wow! Can you give points for bravery on PN?? Or are you using a super telephoto and standing a mile away? Yikes! Link to comment
stevegriffin 0 Posted January 11, 2007 Great capture - love the emotion. What is going on? Regards Steve Link to comment
tiffanydawn 0 Posted January 11, 2007 Funny, I just noticed the spelling on protection, ooops ;-) Link to comment
tiffanydawn 0 Posted January 11, 2007 Steve, Protection Sport Association (PSA) is a form of dog training for police dogs, personal protection, family guard dogs & sport dogs, PSA holds competitive dog trials. This is one of the training exercises our dogs go through. It is funny because most people would not want to come anywhere near these dogs. However, they are such well behaved, loving dogs, most are also family pets! To answer your question Jan, I get right up close & personal :-) Again, these dogs are super well trained. I was nervous at first but have since put my dog in training & I'm hooked. They go through extensive obediance training & are better behaved then most house dogs (if they have a good trainer). Check my page, there is a picture of a dog with a guy in a bite suite (the bad guy) jumping over her, her owner has giving her the command to stay & not bite. It's not a great shot unless you know what is going on. So far all of my post are older pictures (little camera experience) I hope to have new & improved posts soon. Please continue to check my page & leave comments! Link to comment
sean_r2 0 Posted January 12, 2007 >>Please continue to check my page & leave comments! As this photo was so great, I'll definitely be checking back to see what you do. I hope you'll include more of the PSA photos, too. Link to comment
tiffanydawn 0 Posted January 12, 2007 I hope to go take some PSA pictures this weekend. Maybe if they are training when the light is good I can show some improvement. I have been reading a bunch & taking in all the critiques. We'll see if I'm learning anything :-) Thanks again for stopping by. Link to comment
bharathnair 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Hi.. really unsual subject and I can see the energy you've tried to capture...great job. However, I'd like to know what lens your using in this shot. A large aperture with a low depth of field (like a 200mm lens at f 4.0 or larger) would have blurred the distracting background. The pole under the dog's chin, the yellow one under the man's chin and the branches over the back of his head detract from a potentially brilliant shot. A larger aperture will have a shallow depth of field while a smaller aperture will increase it. Keep posting on the subject.. fascinating. Link to comment
tiffanydawn 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Thank You, I appreciate your help. I am looking forward to getting back up there to take more photos. I have learned quite a bit since taking these shots, lets hope I can apply what I have learned :-) Link to comment
