shirkwolfe 0 Posted January 6, 2007 Wonderful work. Can you tell us what the four parts were? I can't tell! Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted January 6, 2007 Strong composition. With the focus on the roots, and the trunks arching back, it really gives the impression that the trees are holding their own against the power of gravity and rushing water. Link to comment
billydodson 0 Posted January 6, 2007 Very cool effect. You're a wizard. I want to learn how to do this sort of thing when I grow up. Wonderful work ... thanks for sharing it. BD Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted January 6, 2007 I THINK he means four separate exposures of the same scene, combined to create high dynamic range. That's what MY copy of Photomatix is for, at least. Fine image in any case. Love to see it as b/w. Link to comment
barclayphoto 0 Posted January 6, 2007 Susan, Les is correct. I took four exposures allowing for a proper exposure of the sky and yellow foliage which was in sun and then the foreground which was in shade. I let Photomatix (software) blend the four images and then used their tonemapping software to work the blended image. Link to comment
billydodson 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Follow up comment ... this picture is ridiculously underrated. Not sure how anyone can hang a 3/3 on this. BD Link to comment
_jackie 0 Posted January 7, 2007 John, this is gorgeous! It feels as though the trees are hanging on for dear life, battered by the elements. Link to comment
barclayphoto 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Thanks Jackie! Nice to hear from you. B. Dodson thanks for your kind comment and support. Don't sweat it... I can handle the low ratings.... :). Link to comment
jana 1 Posted January 21, 2007 Hello John This is a wonderful composition ! I love Your image with Colla! About Your question about my Namibia tree. Of course, I have that tree in many images. Just look at the DESERTSCAPES folder (2003) and AFRICA folder (2006)/ cheers Jana Link to comment
clivefox 1 Posted January 22, 2007 Beautiful work John. I have not used "Photomatix" at the moment content using PS. What are the benefits? Clive Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted August 25, 2007 ... you really get the colors to pop but don't make it look unnatural. Great shot as well. Amazing how that tree can thrive in so unhospitable a surrounding. Link to comment
