rob valine 0 Posted January 6, 2007 This photo was taken with an old rangefinder camera that I bought from a friend for ten dollars. He found it in his attic. The meter no longer works. I like to use this camera with Kodak Tri X film which has an exposure latitude of 9 stops and try to guess the exposure. It's challenging and fun and I've gotten pretty good at it. It forces me to pay attention to what the light is doing and not just blindly do what the meter is telling me. I believe the old glass in this camera gives my images an old time feel or look. What do you think ? Link to comment
aeaster 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Rob, an old Petri rangefinder (a Racer circa 1966) is the only 35mm I own. All of my other cameras are even older TLRs and a 4X5 Graflex. Petris are some real sleeper cameras in my opinion; totally manual with very good glass. This forces the photographer to perform a function that is being lost in today's world of mega-pixel modern marvels, i. e., to actually think about what he is doing. Link to comment
