ken_james 0 Posted January 5, 2007 hey brenda: I've photographed these kinds of birds - and they normally look stocky and hunchbacked. Here, though, the bird appears to be getting ready to take off...and he is stretching his body in a way that minimized the qualities I have mentioned. In that respect, I think you did a good job. Do you know what really makes this photo? It is the warmth of the wood of the log...without that the photo would have been almost entirely cool with nothing (even the bird) popping. With him so close to the log - as well as being supported by it, the log and him almost are viewed as one - with the log making the bird appear to pop. Ken Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted January 6, 2007 Excellent shot, the log definitely makes it,and it deserves a higher rating than what it has gotten so far. Link to comment
bgeg 0 Posted January 6, 2007 Very Nice! a little head turn would have brought it over the top. Regards, B. Link to comment
bj_rn_tore_rekve_seim 0 Posted January 7, 2007 I like the intensity in the eye of the heron, this is a skillfull hunter! Good balance in the image created by the fine reflection. Details and colours are fine too, well done! Link to comment
