That's a great shot. The waterlogged boat really makes it. I thought it might be interesting to crop out the back to just focus on the boat and those great clouds.

It evokes a good emotion and it's colours and clarity are so crisp. A very refreshing image! Thanks for sharing it!

Beautiful shot, Martin. I am curious about the water in the boat that reflects the sky. The water line seems pretty tilted - strangely so. In addition, the front of the boat, it would seem, is completely filled with water while the back of the boat has no water in it. Did you paste the water in, or is it real? Either way it is a lovely scene, but I am curious.

Thanks for your comments!

No, the water has not been edited in. There are no such things done to this photo. All I have done i a little bit ocf levels/curves/saturation and I have removed a little sensor-dust. Everything else i real!

I can agree that the water level in the boat looks a bit weird, but I guess it?s a trick of the eye. The water in the boat is also more still since it?s not affected by the ripples on the lake.

Best regards,

Martin

It is possible the water in the boat could be at such a large angle if it was embanked at an angle. If this is real, then I can't figure out any other thing but you have some distortion in your lens, because the level of the water in the boat doesn't come close to matching the level on the horizon. Distortion or not, I would consider trying to match the water plane in the boat with the water plane of the horizon in photoshop, because it looks totally fake. I'm not saying it's fake....just that I've looked at this for quite some time, and to me it looks fake.

Scott: I can see how it would look fake but I can guarantee you that it?s not. I think part of the explanation is that the boat is tilting at an angle and the horizon is not constant, since the lake bends away.

Here is the same boat from another angle, at a later time that same morning. You can see the water level looks the same here. This photo is straight from the RAW-conversion, no alterations, not even sensor dust removal:

Scott: I figured out why the water line in the boat looks so weird!

It?s because half of it is a reflection. Look at this crop, where I have brightened it up to an extreme:

You can see the actual water line and then the reflection that makes it look fake. The actual water line matches the horizon much better. You can?t tell them apart when the image is as dark as it is.

Best regards,

Martin
