"I'm so cute" Published by the International Library of Photography. The photo looks a bit wierd to me on this site, maybe it was my scan? It looks much better then this, really.

Was it worthy of being published? Were the judges right in selecting

this picture?

It doesn't really do anything for me compositionally. Sharpness could be corrected in photoshop because it probably was softened by the scanner. The background is too blown out and is pretty distracting.

 

I'm wondering, are those shadows from the plant just above his left arm? Did you use any flash or any other light shining on him in addition to waht was coming through the window? His eyes have a bit of a catch light so I'm guessing that you did use something.

 

I love the deer in the headlights look here. That's fun. In fact, the photo is fun, its cute and entertaining. But I guess for me I don't see it as an award winner or anything more than a slightly above average snapshot. I don't mean that in a harsh way, but I'm just answering your question. I don't really see why it would be in the International Library of Photography, but perhaps there's a lot more to see in the print as well.

international library of photography? isn't that the scam that just publishes what you submit in the particular book you then are asked to purchase? sorry, appears you were taken. check here and here

i read some of the discussions about the International Library of Photography before but i missed out the interesting part in one of the links above by kevin that photo.net supports them..

So, you're all saying my photo stinks? I know it's no great accomplishment to be in their book. When they first told me, I was excited, then after another one of mine (which I didn't think was worthy of being published) got published I figured they publish nearly everyone..but I have to say, not all get published. They have an archive of pictures on there they don't appear to have won anything. I was just hoping to win a contest, I decided long ago, I won't submit anymore to their site. Then my two sisters had poems published on Poetry.com (they were good ones though), and then we realized that it was the same company. All this being true, what do you think of the photo? No good? I have shown it to other people, one being a teacher of photography, and though they suggested more light may have been good, they did like the picture. Lighting was difficult where this was taken, in my sisters home, not alot of light there and yes, i used a flash. It's a candid, not a planned shot.

It's still a nice picture.

The photo doesn't stink, but the bright background distracts from the subject.
