petewelsh 0 Posted December 30, 2006 I do not understand why someone has given this a 3/3 rating.. Is there a problem with it or is it someone who got their settings set to give automatic 3/3?.. why do they give 3/3 without a critique? Isn't that what this site is about? Helping people to learn? Thats what I paid my money for ... I guess in future I will not worry about getting the 3/3 with no comments and put it down to photographers who are afraid someones shot is going to get better ratings than them.. Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted December 31, 2006 You will find Peter that there is a certain amount of people that come on this site just to give good photos low ratings. They seem to get their kick out of it.We all have to put up with it.Just learn to ignore it.There are plenty here who want to discuss photography seriously.Besides all that this is an excellent shot, which is properly why you got the 3/3.Detail and dof is spot on..Cheers from OZ Link to comment
Dieter Schaefer 20,319 Posted December 31, 2006 Peter, the 3/3 crowd is apparently always out, don't know what they are getting out of it; don't expect any constructive critique from them anyway. They get me upset too and I am trying to see it the way I read in another post today: it is like paying taxes on a good photo (haven't quite managed yet though). This is a very nice shot with good detail and nice DOF. The one thing that disturbs me is that the crop/framing could be much improved IMHO. There is not enough space in front of the beak and too much to the left of the head. It is almost as if you followed the 1/3 rule but put the eye on the wrong side. Link to comment
petewelsh 0 Posted December 31, 2006 Thankyou Deiter .. I see what you mean now I look at it again ... I may be able to put it right as I believe i have cropped it from a larger pic .. thankyou for your comments.. Link to comment
bgeg 0 Posted December 31, 2006 Nice Shot Peter! Dieters comments are right on, I also find it too tight in the frame. Regards, B. Link to comment
