newbie to this camera stuff and would love to learn so much more how

did I do for my first time.

Welcome to PN - I've only been here a short time too and am also new to camera stuff. This is a very nice picture but my first suggestion would be to find a subject that has more "umph". It is hard to critique a photo that is just all leaves - the viewer is not sure what to look at. If it is the berries you want to highlight, then a tighter cropping around the berries would give it more pizazz. I have learned that in photography, "less is more". So you want to remove any distracting elements (such as an entire frame of leaves) I hope this helps and happy shooting in 2007!!
