marcadamus 1 Posted December 26, 2006 Castle Mountain in the Canadian Rockies is reflected in a small pool along the Bow River. In the frigid early Winter conditions mist rises off the yet unfrozen river at first light. Link to comment
ainsa 0 Posted December 26, 2006 I like very much the photo, with the mist rising and the reflection of the mountains in the water. Just only a question. Did you wait till the sun lightened the upper part of the trees to take the photo? That's a detail in the photo that I really like. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted December 26, 2006 Yes. The light on the trees is completely natural and appears here as it did on site. Link to comment
ainsa 0 Posted December 27, 2006 There is no doubt about the light source. I was sure it wasn't achieved in photoshop. I just wanted to know if your initial intention before taking this photo was to have it with the trees illuminated like that, because for me, that little thing (in which i wouldn't have thought) makes this photo great. I don't know if you understand me but thank you anyway. Sorry for my english. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted December 27, 2006 I understand you fine, Ander. Thanks for the comment. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Ahh, another treat. I can just feel and smell the crisp fresh air. When are you coming out with a book Marc? Excuse the pun. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted December 27, 2006 I have offers on the table but haven't had the time. That's what happens when you spend as much time out there shooting as I do. Maybe when I get old or my publishers demand it ;-) Link to comment
holmesj181 0 Posted December 27, 2006 beautiful image, and patience with the set up. it is great to see your work as I return from the road. I am waiting for your book. jh Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Great light as usual but what I love most is the mist on the water. I would crop the leftmost tree (which is cutoff) or 2. I am surprised to see you accepting ratings again, given the issues on this website. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted December 27, 2006 Grand image of a peaceful scene. I agree with Ander that the light on the tops of the trees all along the curve of the river is the icing on the cake. Regarding ratings, I hate them, but it may be the only way to have images viewed by a number of people (who will hopefully provide comments) for any length of time. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted December 27, 2006 I forgot to click the "Critique Only" button. Oh well. I can get comments without ratings on this image on other sites if I want. I also tried cropping out that tree but never liked it quite as much. Link to comment
tomsphotos 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Yet an other super photo Must ask you how do you live when out taking photos ? Regards Tom Link to comment

arnabbanerjee 0 Posted December 28, 2006 With all due respect, this location is very common in Canadian Rockies - contrary to all the back country, far-remote locations that I love about your portfolio. However, the winter condition and nice light makes this image. I like it - but this will probably not go in your book (if you ever get time publish it) Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted December 31, 2006 This one grows on me. The attractions of this shot are more subtle than with your usual style. The highlighted tips of the trees have been commented on already. The criss-crossing lines in the composition hold the attention well. The somewhat unexpected reflection in the foreground with the boldest colours in the composition is superb. Link to comment
