Julia butterflies

I've switched to digital SLR, and this is my first butterfly picture

with the new equipment. What do you think?

Nice photo, Focus is quite accurate and nice colors. Leaves are little bit distracting but I guess one have to live with it especially when we don't like to harm the environment.

Nice, sharp focus. Excellent detail on the subject and good use of depth of field. Badkground greens are awfully bright. I think they detract a bit from the butterflies.

Did you try to frame that browninsh area of the background with the wings or was it an accident? I like the effect in either case.

Mark, once I got lined up parallel with the wings of the two butterflies, I took the background I got. This pair was in great position, low in the foliage, so I could get a predominantly green background- I remember thinking that much as I shot.
