pjmeade 12 Posted December 14, 2006 Hello Andrei, Yes it is life. Life is what you make of it. Like most of your work its a striking and powerful image. I like the high contrast, the back lighting and the grain. However, I'm not convinced by the composition. If you cropped at the line of the hedge, you would have a more classical 1/3 composition that would be dominated by the dark foreground and would give a powerful and claustrophobic image. If you cropped out the foreground, you would have another classic 1/3 composition with a view out into bright space, which would be a very powerful optemistic image. I suppose I would like the image to be one thing or the other, but perhaps it was your intention that the image was ambiguous and thet it could either be optemistic or gloomy. Anyway, I enjoyed looking through your work. I was very impressed. Pete Link to comment
halcyonlll 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Catalin: Yes i know ... and i respect it. Peter: Thank you very much for your comment. It is highly appreciated. Although i didn't took any photography classes and i take pictures how i "see" them, i'm pleased to see reactions as yours, especially from people who made a living from photography. And as far as what concerns composition i'm familiar with the rules of it. But you see, sometimes rules are meant to be broken. Thank you for understanding this image so well. Link to comment
bleedingashes 0 Posted December 14, 2006 I love this image, because life is not pessimictic or optimistic, is both at the same time and you managed to make this point very well through the contrast and light. I see a hard life for the horse, but also a life of open fields even if with a yoke.A half freedom that is how life is, in the end. I like the plants amost serving as distant witnesses to this, and the background grass seems to reach to the heaven and integrate with it. magnificent capture. I do not think it could have been done otherwise, to me, perfect and eloquent composition. Link to comment
