Your image is simply stunning. I looked at your original, and it did help by darkening in spots, and it looks like there's a bit more contrast, without being over the top. I love the compliments of the cool colors with the warm that seem to be radiating from the structure in the lower center. Very nice texture, looks like brush strokes.

I can see why this is one of your best. I love the otherworldly feel. The dynamic contrast, details and lighting are amazing. You have brought it all together with a top composition. Did you merge exposures to hold the wide contrasts?

Thanks for the positive comments.

I am blown away at the low rating on this image at this site. At recent shows I've been to this image is by far the biggest attraction, I get more possitive feedback than any other image. Also, on other websites this was received much better. I'm often confused by different reactions on different sites, but this was the biggest surprise I think.

I agree, the anonymous raters have no idea how to rate landscapes in this forum. Yes this is a generalization. Seascapes seem to fare better. Even Marc Adamus has been receiving low ratings. I am getting deup myself & considering only posting on NPN.

Zack, seriously now, we all know that P.Net raters are world leaders for immaturity, selfishness and jealosy. You know better than to consider thier nonsense seriously! I just can't really bring myself to accept ratings anymore for these reasons.

Anyway, this is a stunning image with unique qualities - a rare shot in a much-photographed location. Extrodinary graphic impact and a mysterious draw that captivates me as a viewer. Fascinating and unusual image. I'll give away a rare rating 7/7 for this one for what it's worth.

Low ratings??? I've looked at the ratings for this photograph, and while the average is lower than what I rated it (6/6), it's in the ballpark.

I can see why some people rated this photo a 5/5 (which is NOT a low rating -- its means they thought the photograph had 'good' aesthetics and 'good' originality. And only one person so far has given you photograph a 4 (average) rating and that just for its originality (I guess he/she has seen too many heavily saturated slot canyon shots).

If the raters had given the photograph a lot of 3's and 4's then I feel you would have had a legitimate beef about the ratings for this photograph.

BTW, even though I gave this photograph ONLY a 6/6 (and not a 7/7), I still think it's a superb photograph, one to be very proud of.

Dreamfull..., in the surreal frontier..., alltough it was hard to choose, probably my personal favourite from your great photographic dislay published here.

The PN anonymous rating system is just a f+`+``ng joke, anyone a little serious would not need to hide behind any mask, we are in front of a system suited to be mantained comfortably without at least this basic principle, not consistent at all, not even near!..., there is a lot of people out there sinking excellent images with their lowballs meanwhile voting bizarre and poorly crafted imagery as excellently original and aesthetic, within some time, I have observed a bunch of visible non anonymous cases in my portfolio

I will second the 7/7 vote not just to raise the overall score for this one, because I really think is excellent in every aspect and it deserves this qualification
