jasonnoel 0 Posted February 20, 2007 I love the composition of this photograph! What bothers me is that it looks too fake! I mean... To have every part of the photograph in perfect exposure is just too much. Also, the rice patty is a perfect cut off from the horizon and gives a cut and past type of feel. I love the initial feel of the image, but after looking at it for more than a second, it just bothered me. I love "Original" photographs! Link to comment
John Crowe 165 Posted February 24, 2007 I'll second that. My appreciation goes to "original" photographs that succeed despite the fact that they don't need alterations. On the angle: While from first appearances it provides dynamic appeal, over time it does get tiring. Link to comment
stephen_davies1 0 Posted February 28, 2007 The picture is excellent as it is. Some photographers try to create "unmanipulated" (if that's even possible) photos; others "create" images out of photographic elements they have acquired. Both approaches are equally valid. The final image is what's important. This image is very strong compositionally (look at all the different triangles in it!), has an interesting (to me) subject, has skilled use of color (the luscious blues and golds tied together by the band of green) and most of all is very beautiful! If it didn't have the strong colors, the tilted horizon, the boy in the frame - it wouldn't be the same picture and in my opinion would suffer for it. A very successful piece of art! Congratulations. carroll_hanks1 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Nice photo, brilliant color. I am dumbfounded why it is tilted. I have noticed that this is often used when it makes no sense and adds nothing to the picture. If you study the old masters you never see this technique used. Sorry, I am just an old fashioned photographer. Link to comment
ursblick 0 Posted March 7, 2007 xlnt shot - simply brilliant colours and a worthwile winner of the photo of the week contest! Link to comment
annat 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Nice colours. The woman alone in the photograph, faceless and bent, would have more oomph for me. Otherwise, good. Link to comment
bradford 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Great photo, yes it is oversaturated. It's also in the new edition of POP PHOTO, so a lot of people are seeing it beyond this site. I think the cant angle works because of all the other elements in the pic- i.e. sky, green grass, human subject (face unseen!) and shadows/reflection upon the water. Look at the range and changing elements from near to far. That's what "makes" this pic IMHO, not the cant angle. Yes, the cant adds to it; but it's not the main appeal of the photo. Well done! nasko 0 Posted July 12, 2007 Hi Brad, I didn't know the picture is in POP PHOTO. Do you have a link or it is a printed magazine? Thanks for your good words, I am happy that you like my picture Link to comment
bradford 0 Posted July 28, 2007 Atanas- I will look for you. Pop Photo is both a website and printed magazine. Their link is http://www.popphoto.com/. I just went through the July 2007 magazine and it's not in there, so I'm guessing it's either the June or August issue. I will look for you there as well and let you know ASAP when I find it.
