Guest Guest Posted April 16, 2001 Really nice image. I don't think B&W film would be better than the film you chose. I think that the black space on the bottom is too much. Perhaps if you framed a tad lower. Otherwise lovely lovely picture. Good job. Link to comment
ziad 0 Posted May 1, 2001 Great one, the mysterious sand blown off and the black shades give it the subtle dramatic feel. The highlighted curves complete the trick. Black and white would have spoiled it. Link to comment
mario_sales 0 Posted May 8, 2001 Very good, lovely shot, from where I come from the evening would have had a diffrent light.Much harsher. How many shots were taken on this shoot? You certainly captured the atmosphere, it's one of those shots where you need to keep looking until it all sinks in. Good work. Link to comment
robert_forsyth 0 Posted July 31, 2001 Hmnn....a little distressing reading some of the comments here. I for one would be VERY DARN PLEASED with myself to get an image back from the lab that looked like this. I would consider it a benchmark in my growth as a photographer. Border's...thirds...humbug! Given that this image was put up here for all of us to have a look at, I can assume that he was quite pleased with it himself. What all the rest would have done here....well...that's what you would have done....it's not what he did and that's just fine by me. The bottom line here is that as we strive to grow in our craft, what makes us better is breaking free of the rules...thinking sideways if I may say. When I stop thinking about rules and begin to loose myself in what I see before me... is when I make the best pictures. Link to comment
sander_van_otterloo 0 Posted August 1, 2001 I have to take issue with Kiet's question above about what was cropped. As photographers, we crop the world around us each time we release the shutter. What's wrong with further cropping that image to take it to a personal height of artistic expression? I just cropped a roll of 36 today and can't wait to get into the dark room and see how the images look Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 22, 2002 Nice Pic. Growing up in Alamosa, I've seen my share of Dunes shots and this one is unique. I just put up a folder of shots taken in Alamosa if you care to peek. Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Great tonality. Outstanding composition. Isn't it lovely what medium-format film can do? Good work! Link to comment
