South of the Border

If you've ever been on I-95 through VA & NC, you know rhis landmark.

Possibly the penultimate symbol of true American travel kitsch, it's a

"must stop" every time I pass it.

Oh yeah, been there a few times! I lived in Fayetteville and I'd go by there when I would be heading down to connect with Interstate 20.

but I believe this place is on the NC/SC border, unless there are two of them, Lord forbid! I used to live in Fayetteville too. This is a wonderful photo of a great "tourist-trap" icon. Thanks!

You're absolutely correct, it is the North / South Carolina border. I apologize for the error...the only thing I can say by way of explanation is we were heading to VA on this particular trip. :-)

 

I've driven by this place since 1976. Great memories of trips from NJ to FLA. Things may come and go, but South of the Border endures....
