This was taken in the interior of British Columbia Canada with a

Canon SD550. The Salmon Run is an amazing spectical, difficult to

photograph. This is my first submission. Any advice would be greatly

appreciated.

I'm not sure about the colours & forms in your photo. An image shouldn't necessitate an explicit explanation. The magenta and reddish tones add to the confusion. Why not try b&w with enhanced contrast? This way you'll see that the salmon can't actually be discerned, but you may have an interesting abstract image on your hands.

Welcome & good luck on p.net;

This shot works for me and the shapes and colors were recognizable since I recently saw that just outside of Anchorage, Alaska. There is a certain absract form to the photograph. Don't be afraid to look at a vertical(portrait mode) photo by cropping it and see what possibilities you get - I would exclude the 'empty' portion at the upper right of the photo. In the end, it is your creation - whatever you do.

Linda, this is just beautiful. I do not normally enjoy wildlife at all as a matter of taste, but I love color and water so I just love this beautiful photo. Cheers!

Hey, Linda...you know how much I love this photo! It jumped right out at me then, and does now...the colours, texture, and natural element. Most people didn't know that this is salmon, when shown the picture, and actually touched the picture to "feel" the texture! I displayed it, as you know, and it engendered A LOT of interest. As you know, I'm proud you agreed to offer your first photo here as my first limited edition print for Metta Creative Works. Joyce Michalchuk (www.mettacounselling.ca)

Holy fish scales...? this was your first submission? wow pretty cool...I am one of those that believes that Title and explanations are OK...but mostly it's up to the artist...I feel there are far too many images I don't like because the artist did not give at least a little info...Oh well...as for the empty space up top...it looks ok to me...This like your other lover image to me could have used the polarizer...I hand hold it over my point and shoot when it is the wrong size to screw onto the lenz...Fantastic image...juan

Yep, my first submission. If it turned out not too badly it was the subject more than the photographer. I agree with you 100% about the polerizing filter. I didn't have one at that time. I do now. I'm looking forward to taking some better shots this fall. Good idea about holding your filter over the point and shoot lens.

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate all the pointers I can get. All the best.
