michaelhills 0 Posted November 6, 2006 What a lovely contemplative capture, Jacqueline. I like it. However, what do you think about the inclusion of the grass in the foreground? Perhaps too intrusive? Warmest regards... M :) Link to comment
marahjj 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Hello Michael~ Thank you for stopping in and leaving your thoughtful comment. Personally, I don't think the grass is too intrusive......the embankment was part of the beauty of this moment so it only seemed right to include it a bit. However, I'll always try new options so I'll crop it a little and see how it looks......Nice to meet you. Link to comment
davidorea 1 Posted November 10, 2006 Simple and very nice image, Jacqueline. Excellent composition, tones, silhouettes and contrast. Agreeable atmosphere! Best regards! Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted November 10, 2006 I also like composition. The grass in the very foreground make me look away from the primary subject, so I also find it a little bit distracting. But you have done a very nice job centering the vertical plant between the light and dark water area...this adds impact! Cheers. Link to comment
gdanmitchell 0 Posted November 10, 2006 I like the concept of this photo - the almost black of the upper plant stems agains the lighter water. I'm not so fond of the grass at the bottom left - to me it seems like a bit of a distraction. I can think of a few things to try - if you agree. You could try a tighter crop, though that will be tricky with some of the taller blades of grass. (You could try dealing with them via the stamp tool in PS.) I thnk you might be able to crop the bottom and perhaps a bit on the right side to compensate. On the other hand, if you have cropped from a larger original, you might actually include _more_ of the grass - instead of just having the very thin strip of it. Another possibility to play with might be to use PS to burn in the grass area bit. In any case, by eye is drawn back to the very elegant shapes of the plants. Dan Link to comment
marahjj 0 Posted November 10, 2006 Hola David :-) Nice to see you as always...thank you for your kind words. Hello Kurt~ Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your thoughts. I am always pleased to hear others points of view....it is very helpful. Dan~ Hi! I appreciate all of your considerations of this image. I will repost a cropped version (this is the original) and look forward to your final thoughts! Regards to all! Link to comment
marahjj 0 Posted November 10, 2006 Your thoughts? Is the cropped version more agreeable? And how do I get the image to appear rather than show as an attachment? Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted November 12, 2006 Jacqueline, now that I have looked at the revised version, I actually prefer the original - even with the grass included. I humbly eat my previous comments regarding the grass! That said however, I think the original image can benefit from a slight burning in of the grass to make it compete less with the subjects. To post images within your thread, I believe you have to post images no larger then 512px wide. Or was it 500px? I can't remember. Good to meet you too. M :) Link to comment
marahjj 0 Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks so much for your response Michael~ Interestingly, I printed and matted the second version and it has a clean, sleek look about it. The original is a bit more naturalistic...so I am using them both in my inventory of photographs :-) I appreciate your thoughts on both......stop by again! Oh, and thanks for the tip about posting the images....I'll give it a try. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted November 13, 2006 Always a pleasure, Jacqueline :) Two subtle interpretations of the same subject is always good. Just highlights the limitless ways human can perceive the world. M :) Link to comment
