leif_rudd 0 Posted March 25, 2002 great image, niloy. the light is striking. i'd prefer to enjoy this at a bit larger resolution, but i'm happy with what you've shared --except for the rather obvious transition due to the hard-step ND grad -- i think a more gradual would have been in order. thanks Link to comment
bill_pope1 0 Posted March 25, 2002 very nice interplay between the clouds and the mountains - did you use a blue graduated filter or photoshop to get the sky as dark as it is? Link to comment
niloy_chakrabarty 0 Posted March 26, 2002 I did not use photoshop at all. The sky was very blue. Look at this to see how nice the sky was. 3 stop ND grad turned it into a deep blue sky. Link to comment
brucepercy 0 Posted March 29, 2002 Potentially a great image spoiled by the overuse of a graduated filter. The sky has touches of blue going straight into black. I don't find this appealing, even though I usually like very dramatic shots. I also feel that youve over stressed the picture by adding more saturation than was already there. Apologies for the hard crit. I feel that the original image may have been more pleasing as this one strikes me as been overworked. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 31, 2002 What in the heck did you do to the sky? You lose the clouds and the vibrancy they would add to the image. The colors are a 'nice' Disneychrome look, way oversaturated and almost painful to the eyes. If you want special effects you might try color infrared with a yellow filter. Your images fairly screams "manipulation for the sake of manipulation". Link to comment
greglyon 0 Posted April 2, 2002 Be it photoshop or ND grad, too much of a good thing to me... Actually now that I have read the details, I'd say that a 1 or 2 stop ND would have been perfect. There are some photoshop techniques out there that would give you a more natural gradation without going so dark. Check out Luminous-landscape.com for some great tutorials if you are interested. stanton imaging 0 Posted April 2, 2002 sorry nick i agree with above overdone, the original sky without the filter you showed bill was much better Link to comment
gk photography 0 Posted July 23, 2002 I like the interplay between foreground and background here. There's truly a sense of depth in this shot. Nice work! Link to comment
ellery_chua___singapore 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Aside from the unnatural nature of the cloudy they also pose a high level of distraction in the picture. I assume the hills fore and mid ground is the subject - crop of the sky it helps. Then you have the bright golden hills jostling for attention - visual this is very much little a babble babble situation. Simplify to make it stronger. You have pick the correct point and frame its just the additions to the natural situation are too radical. My 2cents from mpov - this is one of those ymwv things. Link to comment
