heleen verdonk 0 Posted March 22, 2002 The first thing i saw was the grey frame than the composition which was in it. I like the composition! but i think i shoud have choosen an other frame. (i agree it is not always easy to find one wich adds to the picture without getting too much attention)Suggestion: black or a color which is dominant in the composition.(just an opinion) Link to comment
magnus_nystedt 0 Posted March 22, 2002 Agree that the frame doesn't do anything for the photo. Also slightly overexposed at the middle top, where the sun shines through the leaves. Tricky situation to meter right though. Composition is good, and I love the colors. Link to comment
alan_lorber 0 Posted March 22, 2002 A fun place to be on a fall day. Would certainly continue down the road to see what's beyond the bend. Link to comment
bob stewart jacksonville 0 Posted March 22, 2002 Lovely shot. The winding road makes the composition. I agree that the top is a little over exposed, but not much you could do without blocking the shadows on the lower right. Could try a graduated neutral density filter, but there's really not a good place to have the break fall. Only other answer would be a digital double: one shot for the highlight, one for the shadow, scanned and digitally composited. Lot of work to adjust a relatively minor issue. Link to comment
traders 0 Posted July 20, 2002 John, love the curve of the road ... the composition draws me in. Link to comment
jimvanson 0 Posted January 13, 2003 Very nice shot featuring superb composition, exposure (we'll get back to that), printing and for me presentation. Yes the sky is very pale but there is no way you would be able to hold the exposure for the rest of the shot if you used a shorter exposure. My first thought was crop off the top 20 percent, but you loose the top of the big tree. So what I would do is either have a custom print made with a plus 1 exposure over the whole light green /sky area or I'd photoshop it. Regardless...good shot. Link to comment
WJT 634 Posted January 19, 2003 Just my opinion, but I like the choice you made in the frame. Both texture and color (looks more teal than gray) seem just right. The composition is compelling; it persists in drawing the viewer in. The gravity of the large tree on the right (is it an oak?) anchors the lightness of the sky. Nature cooperated with you on this one. Nice job. Link to comment
