Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 31, 2006 Well, now that you have given away all your secrets, I have to say I like this very much. As I have probably told you, when I was younger I had a collection of old Life Magazines (1937-1942) with contributions from some of the greatest names in photography. There was a certain honesty and directness to the photographs of that era and I can recall many of them very clearly. These guys and gals were photo-journalists, basically ordinary working stiffs with cameras and there was always something very accessible about their work. Now we seem to have fenced off much of contemporary art, made it into something special and exclusive, a members only club. Anyway, this long-winded disertation is my way of saying that this picture reminds me of the pictures of that era. It seems to capture the energy of the moment and preserves it for all time. dennisdixson 0 Posted November 1, 2006 This started out as a documentary shot but then I decided that I needed to "Artiffy" it for some reason. Perhaps I should have just cropped it and let it go at that. My desire was to capture the faces of all four dancers in a candid shot and in less than sixty seconds, because I was on my way to work. One thing I did not notice right away was that the girl on the left is wearing a denim jacket which is in stark contrast to the rest of the attire. I guess that makes this sort of an East meets Western Culture shot. ;-) Link to comment
