Very good use of the panoramic format. It seems that many people limit themselves by thinking of landscapes when it comes panoramic prints. I've tried envisioning how this would look in the traditional 35mm format and it just doesn't work. The dark spaces on the right and left are essential. A presented, this is much more dramatic.

The low light conditions that bleed the existing light in the back figures clothes (which are perfect for the contrast) are annoying to me when I do something like this. I tried soft filtering the print in the darkroom and it comes out really neat. I havn't updated my portfolio since forever and so i only have my begginers shots, but i learned how to do this in a printing course and the effects are tricky to get but really worth trying.

I guess I'm saying I wish I had a great neg like this to try it with...good stuff, all round.

Yes the lighting on the night was tricky, in the sense that it was a case of extremes, either totally black or hot spotlights.

I didn't bother metering, just opened the lens to it's maximum and held the camera on what I thought would freeze a moment (provided I wait for a lull in the action).

I had bought two tickets in the front row for me and my girlfriend, she couldn't make it so I took a camera and her mother.

Circus's scream out to be photographed, but in the end most of what is seen is an act, so trying to find something interesting, from the point of view of the crowd is difficult.

I'm sort of happy with the picture, but next time I'll look off stage and shoot it properly.

Good shot, panoramic format is not necessary in my view.

This is the kind of picture that becomes stronger when it's grouped in a series. I 'd love to see more shots of the players performing as well as a few of the players at rest. The crowd would be just one more dimension. The tones of this picture are great and I really like the high contrast, it really puts the performers on stage.
