robert_hughes4 0 Posted January 20, 2007 I like the portrait and think the lighting is fine - it is dramatic lighting as seen in dozens of film noir classics. As far as the nose is concerned, some people have a funny appreciation of beauty. I recall a friend who forced his then-wife into a nose job - she had a wonderful Romanesque nose, then lost it under a surgeon's ill-conceived good intentions. I always thought it was a crime. As for the focus, I believe that this shot is a good example of what can be better achieved with a large format view camera that incorporates lens tilt/swing. The model could therefore had both eye and nose in focus, rather than having to choose between the two. Link to comment
zoe_doubas 0 Posted January 22, 2007 I congratulate you on the fact that you have both chosen this model and to accentuate the one feature many other photographers would choose to disguise. I find that this feature actually adds to her appeal, because it is unusual and becuase she remains beautiful despite it. It allows me to see beyond societys notion of ideal beauty and arouses my curiosity about the person that lays beyond the large nose with a twinkle in her eye. Link to comment
