lucyhollis 2 Posted November 4, 2006 I really like this gazing out composition, but I also like the warm sepia colours of the other photograph. I wonder how this one was in colour? What made you chose to show this in black and white? Link to comment
denise_d 0 Posted November 6, 2006 This is a great shot. I love the composition and the expression on kitty's face. Link to comment
megansteen 0 Posted November 6, 2006 Lucy, Thanks for the critique. I thought the other shot worked better in color because the cat seemed to look more playful. In this shot, the mood is more mellow and I thought that black and white showcased that better and I quite liked the more traditional look. I guess I am just playing around and experimenting with black and white, and it seemed to work well here, so I just left it. :) Denise: Thanks for the comments. They are greatly appreciated. Todd Kowalski 2 Posted November 8, 2006 Megan, I am not usually a big fan of pet pics, however these are very good. I like the reflection and the contemplative posture that the cat is in. Very well captured. Regards, Todd Link to comment
byronlawrence 0 Posted November 17, 2006 ;).. really great photo. one of those photos that you just look at and enjoy and forget about judging! it makes me smile.. and want to pet the cat one thought,, just occured to me as i was looking at it again.. the dark space behind your photo is mostly empty.. have you thought about cropping it and making this a square?.. for that matter have you thought about trying out a square medium format camera? I bet you would love it. Link to comment
megansteen 0 Posted November 17, 2006 Thanks Byron for the great critique! Never tried a square medium format camera but I'm sure I would love it. I will be sure to try it when i get the chance. Thanks! Link to comment
sarahkane 0 Posted March 9, 2007 Megan, I think this is my favourite of all your shots... Although I really do enjoy your refreshing style of still life, there is a lot to be said about the emotion of the living. The tones and mood in this one are brilliant, great capture! ~S~ Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 11, 2007 Excellent work. Looking out...looking in. Curiosity versus introspection. Very nice composition, and an insightful visual commentary on what I've always seen as the duality of cats. And I'll bet it was a couple of anonymous mice who gave this shot its 3/3 ratings.
