Actually no. No flash was used. It was just a 15-20 sec exposure about 20 minutes before the sun was up. (I don't remember which for this particular frame) All 3 airshow photos I recently posted are "flash free". Thank you very much for the compliment.

wow, i find that pretty amazing. But how did you hold a camera still for 15mins, didnt your arm get tired? :)

again, nicely done.

15 seconds not minutes. Afterall I am 50. Maybe last year I could have done 15 minutes. ;-} I brought a tripod and a bipod with me as I was running around there. I shot over 250 photos that morning trying different settings etc. I'm still a rookie at best so I shoot more than what is necessary but that's how I'm learning. Again thanks.

shooting more than neccesary is the name of the game i beleive.

This is a very neat idea, to do timed exposures on planes just before sunrise and it is not something i ever really thought about. I'll definetly have to give it a go. I wonder how a super timed exposure really early in the morning/late at night with an external flash hand held to expose different parts of the plane/subject would work.

again, nice photo.

Yes, it is a nice shot, and I like this one better than the A-6 probably because this one has a handsomer subject and no trash can or other clutter. Those rich predawn time exposure colors in the sky really contribute.
