dave holmes 0 Posted October 21, 2006 Taken at the American Museum of Natural History, the Ibex was part of a diorama. Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted October 25, 2006 A great image. Well framed (except for the black thing upper right) and beautifully exposed. Link to comment
dave holmes 0 Posted October 25, 2006 Thanks Jamie. My daughter (who appears in the image) runs away whenever the camera comes out so I had about a zillionth of a second to take the shot, camera with manual everything. Link to comment

JamieK 1 Posted August 30, 2008 in the thumbnail she seemed to be looking at a super-super-super-sized cotton boll (that's what the seedpod is called - god bless the internet - http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_seed_pod_of_cotton_called). it's a graceful image. Link to comment
dave holmes 0 Posted August 30, 2008 If I lived in the city I'd spend lots of time taking pictures in museums. Glad you still like this one its one of my favorites. Too bad about the impression the icon gives. To me, one of the unfortunate by products of sites like photo.net is this: people tend to click on the thumbnails that look interesting, which means that there is a certain blunt compositional style that has become commonplace, because that is what looks good even when viewed postage stamp size. complex compositional studies get less viewer time because they look random when they're tiny. Oh well. Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted August 30, 2008 nuff said. the cotton boll impression isn't negative for me. it's ambiguous and poetic. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted August 31, 2008 Cool shot Dave. You may have already seen this work but David O Holmes has a terrific series in this subject matter. http://portfolio.streetnine.com/amnh/ Link to comment
dave holmes 0 Posted August 31, 2008 Wow, what kind of crazy coincidence is that? I never saw these works before. David A Holmes <--> Joseph O Holmes. Looks like the same set of dioramas too. Thanks for the link. Link to comment
