This is an amalgum of two shots, changing th sky to this cloudy but

full moonlit night. St Cuthberts Church stands in the foreshadow of

Edinburgh Castle on Lothian Road. Comments very welcome.

Thanks for the comments Bente and Henri. Henri, I think the effect you've pointed out has come from the method used to desaturate the image. I used a Soft Light blend mode of the Red and Blue channels in the Calculations dialog in Photoshop. This has had the net effect of reducing the clouds across the moon leaving it looking like the moon is in front of the clouds. I have attached a revised calculations attempt and this one is much better I hope you agree. Chris.

Thanks Biliana and Julayne... I think the second adjustment works better too... it takes a while to get your head around what Calculations is doing but I think I'm getting there. Chris

Chris, the first attempt is already quite eye-catching but the second one (revised calculations) is even better. Great composition, colours and mood. I would just rotate it slightly so that the church tower became perfectly vertical. Anyway, you made me want to visit Edinburgh now :-)

I've taken a quick look at this folder of yours only and already it tells me what a skilled photographer you are. Happy shootings!
