jmacneil 0 Posted October 12, 2006 it's not that i don't like this, but it relies too heavily on the cuteness factor. it's technically a good photo, but i'm not sure why you decided on this particular colouring, other than to exaggerate the cuteness. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 12, 2006 Cuteness with a little girl and her horse is required by law in most states. It's inevitable and, for that matter, a big value. There's not much going on inside any little kid's head that an intense, non-cute photographer can reveal. Photos like this aren't particularly meaningful in real time, but will have tremendous value for the parents, dreaming back on their child after she's left home. This is a dream. My faintly negative comments have to do with the angle at which her head is held, depriving us of her face. I'd have liked both girl and horse to be seen from a slightly lower angle, heads closer. But that's a small quibble. It's a fine photo and I think the post processing or diffusion actually did contribute. It'd be fun to see this in series, with the horse and the kid seen in sequence, heads and facial expressions changing. Link to comment
giggles 0 Posted October 12, 2006 Hi Jennifer & John - thanks for taking the time to write such thoughtful comments. I am a child's photographer so the "cute" factor is always the best seller versus the artistic approach. I felt this was a little of both due to it is a real life moment and not posed and how can it not be cute with such cute subjects. The little girl who is 18 months was not very happy on this particular day so when dealing with an animal and child under 2 - I am pretty happy with this shot. I just posted another one from this day where Drew is looking at me but I still find myself liking this one better. Feel free to comment on the other too - I'd love to hear your opinions again. Thanks again - Emily Link to comment
