The stars of the Big Dipper and rayed auroral arcs grace the skies

above the Klondike Highway in the Yukon Territory, Canada.

Thanks for taking the time to look, and I hope you enjoy.

Absolutely amazing, one of the best Aurora pictues ever. This is a great shot, but it would have been interesting to do an ultra-close-to-the-ground shot, with the yellow stipe leading to the Aurora (who knows if that would be any better?) I see the yellow strip as a dominate element, since it contrasts so nicely with the green of the Aurora. A weak flash or just Photoshoping might make the stripe as striking as the sky. Just thoughts - a magazine cover for sure.

I love the night shot of this common perspective. The Aurora clearly makes this shot. The color and lines compositionally work exceptionally well. If I were to nit pick about one thing it would be to clone one spot out of the road. Its likely a pothole but it looks like a dirt spec on a digital sensor... even though this was taken with film. Great work.

Kevan,

Thanks for the suggestions, and I actually considered the "ultra-close-up" that you suggest. However, to get that close to the line, and have it be in focus and still achieve infinity focus for the aurora, would have meant stopping down, and I just can't afford to lose that much light when shooting at night. I'm almost always having to shoot wide open. But I like the idea!

Mike, this one really caught my eye - it's just magnificent.

Your whole portfolio is strong, and I look forward to visiting it again, and seeing more of your excellent work.
